December 2010

1. Happy Ever After by Nora Roberts
Bride Quartet, book 4
Although I thought the final conflict between Parker and Malcolm was resolved too quickly and without as much depth as I'd hoped, the romance was still really good as these are two very strong characters and personality types. I also really enjoyed how the other couples played roles in this story--especially Mac and Carter. The friendships between the women are truly the highlights of this quartet.

2. Faefever by Karen Marie Moning
Fever series, book 3
This series has surprisingly become one of my favorite UF series.. rivals the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs! *gasp*!

3. Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning
Fever series, book 4
Ended on such a nearly inconceivable cliff hanger... counting down the days to the release of the fifth and final installment of the series, Shadowfever on Jan. 18, 2011. The wait is agony.  >_<

4. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
A contemporary young adult novel about two Manhattanite teens who "meet" through a notebook that one leaves on a bookshelf in the bookstore The Strand and the other finds. They share their contrasting thoughts and feelings about the Christmas season as well as their feelings about other topics in an honest fashion and begin to fall for each other. But is it all real? Will they be let down when they finally meet each other in person? I highly recommend this novel--it is smart, fun, genuine and has many insightful lessons on Christmas, expectations and hope.

5. The Gift by Nora Roberts
A book containing two Christmas-themed contemporary romance novellas:
"Home for Christmas" and "All I Want for Christmas"-- both very sweet, lovely stories about finding love just in time for Christmas. Both stories have the presence of family and children and truly capture the holiday spirit.

6. The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
A contemporary young adult novel about a 17 year old girl named Lennie who is adrift in a world of grief after her 19 year old sister dies unexpectedly from a heart condition. It's a beautifully written coming of age story addressing grief, joy, sexual awakening, true love, sisterly love, family and friends. One of my absolute favorite books of 2010.
