1. No Such Thing as the Real World
A contemporary young adult anthology by An Na, M.T. Anderson, K.L. Going, Beth Kephart, Chris Lynch and Jacqueline Woodson, this novel features coming of age stories of teenagers in various situations which truly expose them to the raw truths of the real world for the first time.

2. Purity In Death by J.D. Robb
In Death series, Book 17
In this story, Eve and her comprehensive team work almost exclusively at Eve & Roarke's home in the offices to investigate the violent deaths of some of New York's deviant criminals who have been infected by a neurological virus. A group called the Purity Seekers take the credit for these crimes and Eve is determined to seek justice for these murders, despite the ill reputed nature of the victims and despite the prestige of the men and women who belong to the Purity Seekers. Not my favorite of the series so far, but it was great to see Eve's best officers and friends on her team for this one: Feeney, McNab, Peabody, Baxter, Trueheart and even Jamie Lingstrom... and of course, Roarke.

3. All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins
An adorable contemporary romance novel that takes place in a small town in Vermont. The story is about 30 year old Callie who finally makes up her mind to get over her long time (one way) love with her childhood crush Mark Rousseau who also happens to be her boss in a small advertising firm, a job which she loves. Callie dates a couple of guys who are all major duds in the dating department, all the while getting to know and falling for the new vet in town, Ian McFarland. Ian is really quiet, not much of a talker (unlike Callie) and comes across cold and unapproachable. Callie and Ian manage to forge their way to friends ... a bit awkwardly, but all the while sweet and sincere. There are bumps along the way, but in the end, they live happily ever after. Very sweet story. I loved Callie, Ian and Callie's family whom we get to know really well throughout the story as well as they all have little dramas going on. Fun story.

4. "Winter's Passage" novella by Julie Kagawa
The Iron Fey series, book 2
This is a short story that takes place between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter. At the end of The Iron King, Meghan Chase has learned her best friend is actually Puck or Robin Goodfellow the Summer King's most loyal servant, she is the halfling daughter of the Summer Faery King, Oberon, has ventured into Nevernever to rescue her little brother Ethan and fallen in love with Prince Ash, the son of the Winter Queen, Mab. The Summer and Winter courts are, of course, mortal enemies. After defeating the Iron King and rescuing her brother, Meghan must fulfill her promise to Ash and go to the Winter Court. The Queen wishes to use Meghan as bait or collateral in the imminent war between the two courts. Winter's Passage is a short tale about Meghan and Ash's adventurous trip between Meghan's home in mortal realm Louisiana to Tir Na Nog which is the Winter Queen's territory. They visit Puck who is recovering from mortal wounds inside the great Elder tree and escape the clutches of the Big Bad Wolf, accompanied by Grimalkin the mysterious faerie cat.

5. Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon
The Chronicles of Nick, book 1
This is the first book in a new series by Sherrilyn Kenyon that chronicles the life of Nick Gautier, an adult character from her Dark Hunter series. Readers of the Dark Hunter series first meet Nick in book 2 of that series when he is maybe 19 or 21 years old, working as the Squire for Dark Hunter Kyrian Hunter. He is a key character in that series, a friend of both Kyrian and the enigmatic Acheron who is the leader of all the Dark Hunters.

In this novel, Nick is 14 years old and the poor kid attending a private high school on scholarship. Zombies start attacking students and staff at his school and he gets involved in figuring out the how and why they exist and how to exterminate them. He's introduced to a huge cast of characters from humans to demons to dark hunters to squires to gods. We even learn a bit about Nick's father. Good story but so many characters and of the preternatural all with their own agendas with Nick made it feel a bit too much as far as the info dumping goes. But it is interesting to find out how Nick gets involved with the Dark Hunters and how he might be able to make some better choices in his life along the line.

6. Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning
Fever series, Book 1
REREAD

7. Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning
Fever series, Book 2
Too busy to add notes here. Gotta go read the next book....

8. Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning
The Highlanders series, Book 1
The mythology of the story arc was interesting as was the premise of the romance, but the execution of the romance came across a little too contrived or cliched for me to completely enjoy it. I could believe the attraction between the couple, but that they fell deeply in love came across somewhat forced. If I rated books, I'd give this one a 3 out of 5 stars.

9. Portrait In Death by J.D. Robb
In Death series, book 18
