April 2010

Books read this month:

1. Except the Queen by Jane Yolen and Midori Snyder

2. The Sugar Queen by Sarah Allen Addison

3. Nothing But Ghosts by Beth Kephart
A young adult novel about a girl who lost her mother to cancer. She and her dad are still working through their grief, and over one summer, they both remember to live life to its fullest every day while trying to solve the mystery about the local legendary recluse.

4. Mind Games by Carolyn Crane

5. The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen

6. Conspiracy In Death by J.D. Robb
In Death series, Book 8
In this story, Eve is investigating the deaths of a homeless man and an licensed companion who have been found murdered, each having had a vital organ professionally surgically removed. She soon discovers other similar victims in different cities around the world and is determined to find the high end physicians involved in this conspiracy. Meanwhile, a fellow officer makes huge trouble for Eve by filing serious departmental complaints against her which not only interfere with Eve's investigation, but also put her badge in jeopardy.

7. Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
A Mercy Thompson novel, book 5
From my favorite UF series, this novel focuses on Mercy & Adam and pack dynamics as they settle into their bond; Samuel struggling with his will to live and therefore his human and wolf parts are struggling for control--Samuel the man wishes to choose death and the Sam the wolf wishes to choose life; and a mess with an unidentified powerful fae who wants the book that Mercy currently has in her possession that was loaned to her by half blood fae and Phin Brewster in a previous installment. Big troubles seem to follow the little coyote shapeshifter known as Mercedes Thompson whom I have come to love and admire possibly more than any other fictional heroine.

8. The Unfair Lady by Kathryne Kennedy
Historical Romance, Victorian Era, featuring an American heiress determined to learn how to be a proper lady while living in England. She hires an impoverished Duke to sponsor her and hopefully present her to the Queen so that she can return to New York City and be worthy of marrying the man whose family denied their betrothal.
